2-13-14
During the next few weeks, we’ll explore the
theme Heroes and Helpers. As we’ll discover,
this category can include anyone from caped
superheroes to people you see every day at
work, at school, or in your own mirror! As we
read, we’ll discuss the Big Idea “We can all make
a difference.”
In this first week, we’ll meet Mr. Tanen, a
school principal who uses his tie collection to
help his school. Mr. Tanen’s Tie Trouble is a
realistic fiction story about a hero and a helper.
Students will explore the question “When might
a character need help solving a problem?”
We’ll also read an informational text called
Playground Fun.

We didn't get too far this week with continents and oceans. I did send home a little study guide on Monday, feel free to use it as you see fit. It is not homework...
Students are responsible for knowing the locations of all 7 continents: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and Antarctica. They also need to know the location of the 5 oceans: Pacific, Atlantic, Arctic, Indian, and Southern. The Southern Ocean is somewhat of a newer ocean that surrounds Antarctica.
