 Valentine Originality

Decorate a box at home to be your Valentine Mailbox.  This will hold your cards from your classmates and teachers.  You may use any type of box you wish.  Some examples are shoe, cereal, cracker, shirt, tissue, whatever!  Turn your box into some clever, creative item to be your mailbox.  Some fun ideas may include a toaster, computer, doghouse, candy bar, oven, microwave, fire truck, pop can… really stretch your brain to have an unusual type of mailbox.

Guidelines:
1.  Cover your box completely.
2.  Have an opening large enough for valentines from friends.
3.  Create an easy way to remove your cards so you can use your box to take your valentines home.
4.  YOUR NAME must be clearly marked by the opening so it will be easier for your friends to deliver your valentine.
5.  HAVE FUN!

*If your family chooses not to participate your child will be given a bag for his/her valentines. 

*I don't usually do a class party or anything for Valentine's Day.  Our Fridays are super busy as it is, so we will probably just pass out valentines, have a little snack, and maybe do a valentine math activity with those candy hearts.




Conferences are scheduled for Tuesday, February 17th and Thursday, February 19th.  The times range from 4:15-8:15.  I have received confirmation from most of you.  If you can't make our scheduled time, I'll be contacting you shortly to reschedule.  If you can't make either Tuesday or Thursday, then we can pick a different time that works for everyone.







A flyer was sent home today to purchase yearbooks.  You can go on-line and order or fill out the form and send money in with your child.  The deadline is Friday, February 20th.





Ready Set Sail is a program that will give pre-identified students an opportunity to get some daily exercise before school.  Why is this important?  Researchers have shown not only the positive effects of exercise, but also how it relates to more success at school.  Improved classroom behavior along with enhanced concentration and attention are results students gain by increasing their amount of daily physical activity.

Physical Activity = Brain Activity.



READY...SET...SAIL

We are looking for some ENERGETIC LCE parent volunteers (hint.. this is a great opportunity for dad) to be a part of our newest before school program called READY...SET...SAIL!  This is a program that we already identified 25 students to participate in before school.  You can be as involved as you want!   Do you want to come everyday from 8:15-8:35 to help run some EXTRA FUN exercise stations in the gym?  We would love it!  You can come a few days a week.  We would love that too.  You can come once a week or once a month.  Or even just once.  We will take you.  We want to have some GREAT positive interactions taking place while students are engaged in fun physical activites to get their day off to a TERRIFIC start.  If this sounds like a fun program you would like to be involved in please sign up at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c4bacaa29a4ff2-ready
